I am currently attending the University of Alabama to obtain a Bachelors of Science and Business Administration. My major is Management Information Systems with a minor in Computer Software Systems.
I am currently working in my major on an industry integration portal that will enable the State of Alabama to bring new industry into the state. I have been collaborating with experts to define industry wide requirements for the portal and helped to develop a process that is easy to follow. In this project I have utilized Accenture’s Development Methodology in order to see the project through full-lifecycle development and implementation.
This past summer I completed a twelve week internship program with The Home Depot in their Atlanta Support Center as an IT Developer. In that opportunity I was able to take control of a project, collaborate with multiple teams within Home Depot, and develop an end product that will be used in the future. The application I developed takes a process that currently takes between 8 and 24 hours to complete and reduces it to, on average, under an hour. In that project I utilized many technologies including Silverlight, Microsoft IIS, WCF services, and SQL Server.
Some organizations and projects I have been blessed to be a part of outside of school include Habitat for Humanity, L’Arche, Save First, and various community improvement projects through the Boy Scouts of America. One of the most rewarding projects I have been a part of was the Katrina relief effort organized by the Boy Scouts of America. The most recent project I have been privileged to be a part of is SaveFirst. SaveFirst organizes and provides free tax services to low income and working families. This year alone we were able to save families over $670,000 in professional tax preparation costs.
